Slots City Foundation: volunteers organized a boat repair station for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
“Preparing the boat: we’ve already repaired the hull, patched it with fiberglass, and now we’ll proceed with painting. And this boat also has an issue – when it takes in water, it doesn’t drain from the deck. So, we disassembled the rear part and the stern to install drainage covers,” the master shows his work. These boats are special to him – refurbished equipment will go to our defenders, to perform special combat missions.
More than 30 such boats and jet skis have been restored by volunteers of the Slots City Foundation and their partner craftsmen. All boats were allocated to support various units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The craftsmen try to restore the equipment for the army as quickly as possible – within a week, maximum ten days, postponing all other orders. “We’re working in an intensified mode because we understand that we have to do everything on time and properly for our servicemen to use,” say the craftsmen.
The boats shown in the video are used at sea, while smaller boats, simpler ones, are prepared for rivers. Accordingly, they are refitted, expanding the interior space: carving out more room for passengers and belongings. It’s important for the refurbished boat to accommodate both our defenders and everything they need. The masters have already become adept at addressing all the specific needs of the military at the repair station. “Usually, we buy the boat, fit a new engine, meticulously inspect and ensure it’s in good condition. We check, repair, do everything as it should be,” say the volunteers at the station.
“In essence, we’ve created a repair station specifically for watercraft here,” summarizes Artem Stohniy, a volunteer and director of the Slots City Foundation. This Foundation specializes in aid for the military and displaced persons, but since autumn, they’ve been developing new directions in collaboration with partners – repairing drones, automobiles, boats, and other specialized equipment for the frontlines.
In October alone, the volunteers from Slots City Foundation delivered 11 watercraft to various units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During September and October, volunteers spent 24,417,172 hryvnias on purchasing and repairing these vessels. Additionally, in October, the Foundation’s volunteers handed over 286 drones, 5 vehicles, military equipment and gear, thermal imagers, starlings, charging stations, and boilers. The total aid received by the National Guard, Special Operations Forces, various Tactical Groups, and units of the Armed Forces amounted to 39,761,744 hryvnias.
Overall, the volunteers’ aid during the Foundation’s operation has exceeded 130 million hryvnias.
