Slots City Foundation is starting a new project on the free repair of drones for the military in partnership with the charity foundation VOL
Since July 2023, the non-governmental organization “Slot City Foundation,” in collaboration with the charity foundation VOL, has launched a new project aimed at strengthening the technological advantage of the Ukrainian Defense Forces – “Repair and Configuration of Civilian Drones.” Currently, they are repairing DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Matrice drones of various modifications, providing all services for the military free of charge.
“Repairing drones today is cheaper than purchasing new UAVs for the frontlines, but no less effective in saving the lives of our defenders. For over a year, we have been purchasing new drones upon the requests of individual brigades and sponsoring free training for military personnel in UAV operation. With this project, we are expanding this direction of the Foundation’s work,” says Artem Stohniy, Director of the “Slot City Foundation.”
The project is partnered with Vector-Optical Laboratory, specializing in repairing thermal and night vision devices for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
“This project was born out of necessity. It is no secret that the military adapt and use any drones available to them. Despite the cost of DJI drones, they have become expendable resources in our fight. Our goal is to reduce these expenses for the military and increase the number of operational drones on the frontline. To win the war, we must be 3-4 times more efficient than the enemy, which always means the smart use of all available resources,” said Igor Fedirko, founder of VOL.
Repairing valuable devices is an effective way to utilize financial resources for the army’s material and technical support. The average cost of new DJI Mavic 3 drones ranges from $2500 to $2700, while prices for DJI Matrice start at $5000 and can reach up to $25000 depending on the configuration.
At the project’s start, they plan to provide modular and specialized repairs, as well as various adjustments to aid in drone operation. The main principle is to process inquiries as quickly as possible and gradually expand the range of services and models.
Slots City Foundation is a charity fund of the gambling brand Slots City, which was one of the first in the Ukrainian market of gambling entertainment to allocate a portion of its funds to charitable causes. Apart from the drone acquisition and military training program, the Foundation provides military personnel with vehicles, military equipment, and gear, and also assists displaced persons. Since the full-scale invasion began, Slots City Foundation has donated over 50 million UAH to support the army.
Vector-Optical Laboratory (VOL) has been in existence since 2015 and specializes in repairing optoelectronic devices. Over 7.5 years of work, they have restored over 8000 devices with a total value of 19.5 million EUR.
