Repairing ‘Battle Birds’ by Slots City Foundation and VOL: 63 Drones for Avdiivka
The defenders from the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade stationed in Avdiivka (Donetsk region) received drones for critical tasks, but unfortunately couldn’t utilize them. All 63 drones required technical servicing, without which these ‘birds’ couldn’t operate safely.
The VOL Laboratory, part of a partnership program with Slots City Foundation, provides free drone repairs for the military. It became the third institution the guys sought help from. ‘It was practically a cry for help,’ recalled the workshop. All these drones underwent servicing at VOL’s workshop in Kharkiv for two months, but they remained unrepaired. After Kharkiv, the drones moved to Dnipro, where three months of waiting also yielded no results. Finally, when the drones were brought to Kyiv, the situation on the frontlines intensified, making the need for each of these versatile ‘birds’ urgent.
‘Thanks to our reliable partners who supply us with necessary components, and the work of engineers, the first batch of 30 quadcopters was operational within 3 days,’ stated VOL. The craftsmen successfully completed the entire order within a week.
‘Timely execution of military requests is crucial, and all our partner craftsmen understand this well. The VOL laboratory, specializing in drone repairs for the army, closes all orders as quickly as possible. Our other partnered auto repair shops, where volunteers assist with military requests, prioritize army repairs,’ affirmed Artem Stohniy, the director of Slots City Foundation.
The Foundation develops partnered projects for equipment repairs in three areas: drones, automobile technology, and watercraft. They refurbish purchased or battle-damaged equipment by supplementing necessary parts. On average, repairs or retrofitting take up to a week, depending on complexity and the need for additional components. Through repair programs in collaboration with various workshops, Slots City Foundation volunteers have already repaired over 100 vehicles, more than 1200 drones, and over 30 watercraft. Overall, the assistance fund by Slots City Foundation for the army and displaced persons has grown to 150 million hryvnias.
