Repair by VOL and Slots City Foundation: the first thousand drones return to the front line
“It was in a sorry state, with broken arms and a completely melted body,” recalls the operator of the UAV about his Mavic 3T. “The repair was done very quickly; critical parts were replaced. So, my buddy will serve again! Sincere thanks to the volunteers and masters from VOL for the excellent work!” – this was the feedback left by the military for the masters.
The free repair for this UAV was provided by the Vector Optical Laboratory VOL, thanks to charitable contributions from the Slots City Foundation. Within this partnership, 1000 damaged drones have already been restored and returned to operational conditions at combat positions. Only in November, VOL experts repaired 576 devices worth $2.5 million. Among them, 410 are quadcopters and controllers, and 166 are optical-electronic devices (thermal imagers, PNB, thermal imaging sights).
Supporting defenders with drones, as well as repairing military equipment jointly with partner masters, are key programs of the Foundation. “With every new or repaired UAV, the military gets a new chance for better reconnaissance, and therefore, a successful operation and life-saving,” says Artem Stohniy, director of the Slots City Foundation. “Repairing combat equipment: drones, cars, and watercraft, is currently one of the most demanded services of our Foundation, alongside providing gear and other supplies to the front line. We strive to develop these directions in partnership with the best experts,” he added.
In addition to repairs, the Foundation’s volunteers are providing the military with new drones. Apart from a thousand refurbished ones, during the operation of the Slots City Foundation, they have also supplied the army with around 500 new drones (including 300 FPV), and overall assistance to the military has exceeded 142 million hryvnias. Specifically, volunteers are providing defenders with radar systems, vehicles including trucks and ‘rapid aid,’ charging stations, thermal imagers, Starlinks, generators, and other equipment for the fighters.
